UVSAR has an established reputation for supplying world-class editorial material on a wide range of technical safety, medical, rescue and legislative issues for publication in trade journals, magazines and the general media. Issues containing our material are known to increase circulation and generate significant reprint requests, and our ability to explain complex topics in an easily-understood form has been used by the leading Health and Safety publications to introduce new concepts to their readers. In addition our knowledge of digital production and prepress allows us to work with editors to supply fully soft-proofed material, with compatible profiling and output intents to ensure the easiest assembly for print and/or digital editions.

Subjects and topics

Technology

We specialise in the role of new technology, both hardware and software, within workplace and public sector safety - from the use of barcodes to e-learning and geospatial documents. Our involvement in 3D modelling and simulation allows us to both work at and write about the latest developments for interactive graphics, such as 3D and geospatial PDFs, and the role of virtual simulations in emergency planning, product design and crash testing.

We're extensively involved in Adobe products (Creative Suite, Acrobat and After Effects), 3D graphics (3DS Max, Poser, Daz|Studio and Vue) and simulation (Massive, Endorphin and FEA), and the often-circuitous workflow pipelines between them.

Rescue, health and safety

If you're involved in work at height, confined spaces, telecoms or technical rescue, either within a workplace or a public agency, then you've probably seen our articles at some point. We've been writing about these topics for over 15 years, and as the publishers of best-selling books on rope rescue but absolutely not a retailer of hardware, we're in the perfect position to talk about these topics without bias or hidden advertising agendas. Never afraid of contentious topics, articles often result in changes to policy and the law when problem areas are highlighted that nobody else wants to risk talking about.

Supply and attribution

Articles and support materials supplied as direct copy are attributed to UVSAR or the named author and are supplied direct to the publication editor for a fee based on anticipated circulation and copy content. Direct copy materials represent the expert personal opinion of the author and are entirely independent of any commercial or brand influence, so can cover topics which are a little more controversial without expressing any bias.

Subject to limitations of accuracy and impartiality we can also supply material for press under sponsorship of a third party, such as a manufacturer, public agency or service provider. Attribution of the article will be to the sponsor and not to ourselves. While we will produce copy based on a specificed subject or theme and are able to discuss or review commercial brands we will not provide material which contains significant bias, inaccurate or obfuscated claims or representations. Requests for white-label copy are considered on an individual basis and will be declined where these issues are a concern.

Copyright retention

UVSAR, the named author(s) and producer(s) of support assets retain copyright on all editorial material, both direct and white-label. In the standard terms of supply we reserve rights of resale and alteration, and grant the recipient a royalty-free non-exclusive non-transferrable right to print the material as-is for a period of up to five years or 250,000 imprints. Extended licenses for locked exclusivity, editability or lifetime/volume increases are available on negotiation.
