Revealing.

Often when creating material for clients we need an image or video sequence showing something that's simply too dangerous to do in the real world, or too expensive, and here we turn to computer modelling. Using the latest developments in dynamic simulation and 2D/3D rendering platforms we can produce photorealistic media to demonstrate issues to trainees or even to research new safety systems. Need a video of someone falling off a bridge into safety netting? Need to run that again without the net? No problem.

Our graphic artists are skilled users (and in many cases developers) of Max/Vray, Poser/D-S, Vue and many other industry-standard software platforms targeted to 2D and 3D images, video post and compositing.

Rendering of product images for training, sales or press/broadcast applications is often far more flexible than trying to take studio photos, especially where cross-sectional shots or extreme closeups are required. CG models benefit from total control over surface appearance, depth of field and virtual slicing but more importantly they can show products that don't exist. Designers can issue press materials long before prototypes are available, and training providers or media editors can avoid using recognisable or trademarked products by asking for generic versions and composite interpretations. Everything you can see on this page, including the images on the right and in our headline banner, are 100% computer-generated. Of course once we've made the model we can play with it any way we want - cutting sections, moving into extreme close-up or making parts transparent at will. Click the images below for a closer view of what can be achieved - they're free to use if you want to save a copy.

In addition to making custom 3D models, we have access to over a million different 'stock' items, from a single nut to a tower crane or an entire cityscape. This allows us to rapidly create composite scenes, including vehicles, people, backgrounds and the general fluff of life to give extreme realism. Of course you may not want realism! One of the major advantages of working in CG is that we can instantly create all manner of outputs (called 'render styles'), from line drawings and cartoons to hand-drawn sketches. If you want to convey an impression of something but without too much detail, or hint at how a new product might look without revealing the secrets, then look no further than Impossible Images.
