Raising standards.
Being independent of any manufacturer allows us to conduct 'commercial' research without bias or brand pressure into any aspect of equipment design, working practices or standards development. Combining our detailed knowledge of standards, engineering and real-world application of techniques, along with experts in product design and materials science, we can investigate the performance of a new piece of kit, evaluate a technique or develop an entirely new solution to a problem.
Our past work includes:
- Development of suspension trauma mitigation equipment
- Knot performance testing and comparison
- Computer-modeled falls on fixed caged ladders
- Fall arrest techniques for urban search and rescue
- Corrosion effects for long-term bolt placement
- Optimising hole placements for micro-blasting
- Underground water flow tracing and level sensing
We have access to fully-calibrated static and dynamic tensile testing equipment with capacities up to 50kN, and can replicate any of the physical tests conducted under fall protection EN product standards. Our findings are used by companies and public-sector agencies to decide on policies, safe systems of work and in the development of new standards, and often investigate areas where little or no prior work has ever been done.
